What's good

  • Cheap enough to build a full eight-rod spread without flinching
  • Moderate glass-composite action loads slowly, which keeps trebles pinned on a running king
  • Available in the lengths that matter — 8'6" for riggers, 9'6" and 10'6" for boards
  • Double-footed guides survive being cranked down in a rod holder all season

What isn't

  • Guide inserts on the older runs pop out after a couple of seasons of copper; check them each spring
  • Too soft to set a hook by hand — it is a rod-holder rod, not a casting rod
  • Cork grips discolor fast and never come clean

We list the drawbacks because a recommendation with no downside is a sales pitch. If a cheaper item does the job on your water, the write-up says so.
