The other standard in-line board — slightly larger, pulls heavier loads, and handles copper and lead core better than most.

What's good

  • Enough surface area to plane out with lead core, snap weights, or a big diving crank
  • OR16 pro clip release is adjustable and repeatable across different line diameters
  • Rides well in a heavy chop where smaller boards submarine
  • Well-made enough that boards from the 1990s are still in service

What isn't

  • The larger profile pulls harder, which means more rod load and a heavier rod requirement
  • Release tension has to be re-set for braid vs mono or it will slip or refuse to trip
  • Costs more per board than the field, and you need at least four

We list the drawbacks because a recommendation with no downside is a sales pitch. If a cheaper item does the job on your water, the write-up says so.
