What's good

  • Heavy enough to cast into a 20-knot onshore wind, which is when the fish are in
  • Wide, slow wobble that works on a straight retrieve — no technique required
  • The 2/3 oz size covers pier casting, river mouths and shoreline trolling
  • Cheap enough to lose to breakwall rock without caring

What isn't

  • Spoons twist line badly on a straight retrieve; a ball-bearing swivel is not optional
  • The stock split ring is soft and opens under a fresh chinook
  • The painted patterns chip on rock immediately; the plain hammered finishes hold up much better

We list the drawbacks because a recommendation with no downside is a sales pitch. If a cheaper item does the job on your water, the write-up says so.
