What's good

  • Slender profile matches emerald shiners, which is what Erie walleye actually eat
  • Tight, high-frequency roll works better than a wide wobble in cold water and at slower speeds
  • Dives to roughly 26 feet on 10-lb mono, deeper than most unweighted cranks
  • Holds up better to hook swaps than the thin-walled competition

What isn't

  • The long thin body fouls on its own leader on a sloppy cast or a hard turn
  • More expensive than a Bandit and you need a spread of colors, so the difference adds up
  • The narrow action is less forgiving of speed changes — get outside 1.7 to 2.3 mph and it deadens

We list the drawbacks because a recommendation with no downside is a sales pitch. If a cheaper item does the job on your water, the write-up says so.
