A thirteen-foot pedal kayak with the hull volume and freeboard to handle a Great Lakes chop, which most fishing kayaks genuinely do not have.

What's good

  • Instant forward-and-reverse pedal drive keeps hands on the rod while holding position in wind
  • Thirteen-foot waterline tracks and holds speed against a two-foot chop instead of getting slapped around
  • Payload capacity leaves room for an anchor, a battery, and a real fish finder

What isn't

  • Ninety-plus pounds before you load it — solo loading onto a roof rack is not realistic without a cart and a trailer or truck bed

We list the drawbacks because a recommendation with no downside is a sales pitch. If a cheaper item does the job on your water, the write-up says so.
