What's good

  • Light enough to throw all day, unlike the double-blade bucktails that wear you out by noon
  • Blade starts turning immediately on the drop, so it fishes from the first crank
  • Real bucktail hair pulses on the pause in a way synthetic skirts do not
  • Cheap enough relative to the rest of the musky category to carry several

What isn't

  • Single blade means less thump than a Double Cowgirl, and in dirty St. Clair water that costs you
  • The hair matts down and stays matted once it dries; you have to fluff it out between casts
  • The heavy single treble is hard on fish and on nets — a change to a smaller, sharper hook is worth it

We list the drawbacks because a recommendation with no downside is a sales pitch. If a cheaper item does the job on your water, the write-up says so.
